Come and sit with me for a while.

Hi y’all, Dan here! I just returned home from another hiking adventure. This month’s trail was the Fiery Gizzard near Chattanooga, Tennessee. I backpacked along the Fiery Gizzard Creek and climbed the rocky path up to Raven’s Point. This 14-mile loop led me back to the Grundy trailhead where I camped near a historical Civilian Conservation Corps encampment. My dad had served in the CCC during the Great Depression, and being there gave me a sense of nearness to him.

This trail isn’t a long trail. What it lacks in distance it makes up in the punch it packs! The trail is rugged. I maneuvered over miles of boulders and loose rocks, climbed breath-robbing ascents up rock steps, or just straight up the side of the hills. There were amazing waterfalls and white water cascading over smooth rocky shoals. It was wonderful!

This was a solo hike, meaning that I walked it alone. However, I met several folks along the way. Some hiking in groups, and others wandering alone like me. I enjoyed visiting with the others. I enjoyed the solitude of walking by myself. Among the people that I met were two ladies, Terrill and Susan. Terrill has watched my videos and seemed excited to meet the real person behind them. They were enjoying the beauty of the views from Raven’s Point and their energy was infectious.

I also met another YouTuber. Dry Bones has a new channel @drybones4harvesting. Check him out! Subscribe and encourage him. Making videos is time consuming. We carry a lot of extra weight to bring these sights and sounds to you. We hope that you are encouraged to step out on the trails and experience the beauties and the healing that waits for you. We have been blessed to have these opportunities and want to bless you too. We aren’t professionals, we caring. We care for you, and for the natural beauties of creation. We want to encourage you to step out on these trails if you can, and we want to encourage all of us to be good stewards of the world where we live. So, come on. Let’s go walking.
